Do I need a battery tender?

Many of our customers will ask this question before they store their vehicle. This is especially frequent when those customers own BMWs, Porsches, Mercedes, and the like.

A battery tender (for those who don’t know) will trickle (typically 2 amps) a small amount of current to the battery over time. Once the battery is charged, the tender will go into stand by mode until the on board computers drain the battery sufficiently.

The idea here is to never let the car’s ECM and other computers loose current because many cars will behave strangely if the car looses power completely and then jump started.
