Clicking sound when trying to start your car

We just took a reservation for 2 cars for a period of 3-4 years today.

We’ve been storing this beautiful Cadillac for about a year now. Recently it has given us an issue where the starter is clicking when you attempt to fire the engine up.

We sometimes run into this…especially older vehicles with larger engines. In fact we had this same issue with a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette with a 427.

The intermediate cause of this issue is the starter not having enough power to turn the motor over. The root cause can include any of the following:

  • loose battery cables

  • Corroded battery cables

  • Bad ground strapping

  • Bad positive battery cable

  • Low or dead battery

  • Bad starter

  • Bad starter Solenoid

The list goes on and on….

Usually in our experience, a weak battery is the culprit. In those cases it is advisable to either replace or charge the battery.

Make sure you understand this before you store your car!
